Draught Proofing across Derbyshire
Nothing about Draught Proofing in Derbyshire is settled until someone has been on site. Property here runs to Peak District gritstone cottages, mill housing and Georgian spa stock, and each of those brings its own set of dimensions. What accelerates it is upland cold with heavy snow loading and hard frost, and frost heave damage and swelling on unbalanced-finish joinery follows sooner than owners expect. Everything we do here comes back to sealing the perimeter without making the sash stiff to operate.
The survey happens before manufacture, which is why our units fit without packing or trimming. Send what you have, even if it is only a phone photo, and we will take it from there.
Worth knowing locally: Peak Park properties face some of the tightest external alteration controls in England.

Frequently asked questions
Do you cover Derbyshire?
Yes. We cover the whole of Derbyshire including Derby, Chesterfield, Ilkeston, Swadlincote and the surrounding villages. Peak Park properties face some of the tightest external alteration controls in England. Because upland cold with heavy snow loading and hard frost, we allow for it at survey stage rather than discovering it on the day.
What if the opening is out of square?
Most older openings are. The survey records the actual dimensions at several points and the unit is manufactured to suit, which is the main reason we survey rather than work from the sizes given over the phone.
Will the finish need maintaining?
A factory-applied microporous finish typically needs inspection every three to five years, sooner on exposed coastal elevations. Maintaining it is far cheaper than letting a coating fail and the timber take up water.
Do you take a deposit?
Not before the measured survey. A deposit is only requested once the survey is complete and you have approved the final schedule and price.
Is the timber certified?
All our stock is FSC certified and chain-of-custody documentation is supplied with the order, which most main contractors and specifiers now require for their records.
